One night camping in the desert of Morocco

I spent last Christmas holidays traveling Morocco. A wonderful trip started with the ocean breeze in Casablanca and continued on dusty roads searching for the desert. After a couple of days in Fez and a night spent in the countryside among the palms, we arrived to the desert and I strongly recommend the experience: sleeping under the stars of Moroccan sky is an incredible experience.

We spent a night in the desert camp Ali and Sara located in the Erg Chebbi dunes close to Merzouga. That day we arrived in Merzouga, where we met one of the guys from Ali and Sara. We left the car there, we jumped on the camels and we started the amazing 2.5 hour ride among the sandy dunes to reach the campground.

Once arrived there, we left our stuff in our tent  and we enjoyed a delicious vegetarian lunch prepared by the on-site chef. The tented camp is made of 8 tent bedrooms and some common areas, all of them traditionally decorated. All the guys who work there come from Berber families, they are very proud of their origins and they share their stories with a lot of sentiment. I carry with me the memory of their beautiful songs about life and stars.

Costa Smeralda: my holiday in Sardinia

A few weeks ago I went to Sardinia for the first time in my life. You know what they say: you travel around the world but you don’t know the wonderful places of your own country. Well, there you go.  I decided to start from the area I’ve always heard marvelous things: Costa Smeralda in Northern Sardinia. And as expected, I fell in love. Not only for the crystal sea, the enchanting Mediterranean nature and the amazing traditional cuisine, but also because – since I was there in June during the low season – I’ve met just a few tourists and I had the opportunity to enjoy the  peace of that wonderful place.

My trip to Scotland looking for William Wallace

One of my favorite movies ever is Braveheart, every time I see it I start crying like a puppy. One of the main characters is the Scottish landscape that is just breathtaking both for its magnificence and the melancholy that evokes. For this reason and because of many enthusiastic reviews from my friends I decided to organize a trip to Scotland. Unfortunately I could only take 5 days off, so my boyfriend and I tried to focus on the best destinations of Scotland, according to what travel guides suggest. Here is the description of my trip from Edimburgh through the Highlands with a short description of each day!

Best places to visit in the Netherlands

I’ve been living in the Netherlands for two years and I traveled and explored the country quite extensively. It’s not as complex as Italy or France and there isn’t the landscape variety you can find in Scandinavia, but there are a lot of beautiful things to do and to see. It’s plenty of art, history, wonderful cities and amazing restaurants. I put together a list of places worth visiting if you are planning a trip to the Netherlands!

AMSTERDAM

As the Michelin guide would say, Amsterdam by itself worth the journey. The capital of Holland is exciting, international, charming. In this post you can find the 10 best things to do in Amsterdam!

ROTTERDAM

Rotterdam was almost completely destroyed by bombs during the Second World War and it was rebuilt with a innovative style: many modern buildings many of them designed by famous architects – have given a futuristic skyline to the city. Rotterdam today is an exciting city where design and architecture can find high expressions and it’s a popular destination for people who want to have an international experience. Not to be missed the Erasmus bridge, the modern art museum Kunsthal and the largest covered market in the Netherlands, the Markthal. If you want to have a very special dinner, I recommend the restaurant FG Food Labs.

Cuba comes into your heart

Some months ago I went to Cuba and since that moment every time I think about that trip, a sweet melancholy feeling hits my heart.

I remember all the hours spent on the Malecon looking at the sea breaking against the rocks, I think about the sufferance, the energy and the deep looks of Cuban people I met, the poverty and the dignity I have seen, I remember the time spent on the buses admiring those beautiful landscapes flowing like in a movie, the music, the salsa, the fascinating smell of mint in the mojito, the warm light of the sun, the amazingly blue sea, the strong and impetuous nature.

Before leaving for this trip, everyone told me Cuba comes into your heart. And that’s exactly what happened: maybe because of its sweet rythm, for its wild and intriguing nature, for its decadent cities, for the pain and the passion Cuban people love to share with you, or maybe for their powerful stories. Perhaps it’s the combination of all those reasons, I still don’t know. You have to abandon yourself to Cuba, you have to enjoy it, you should devote your mind and your energies to this beautiful island, eventually you will be totally seduced and conquered.

Here are some pictures of the places where I spent some of the most incredible hours in my life: La Havana, Cayo Largo, Santa Clara, Cinfuegos, Trinidad. I strongly recommend to go there as soon as possible!
