My 10 favorite patisseries in Milan

Patisserie is something really serious: scientific dosages, endless experiments, secret recipes, all of that to create something able to transform even the worst day into something acceptable. I am a great lover of good patisserie and I’m always looking for the perfect croissant, the cake that makes everyone happy at a dinner with friends and beautiful pastries to take to mom on Sundays. After years of search and tastings, I think I’m ready to make the list of my 10 favorite patisseries in Milan!

1) Best patisseries in milan – SISSI

If you want to have the best croissant in Milan, you’ll find it in this fantastic patisserie run by an Italian-Senegalese family. The venue is very small and crowded during the weekend, but the custard and the chocolate cream are really worth it. Not to be missed the savory croissants filled with ham.

Milan: what’s new in town

A few weeks ago, I went to Milan to attend the wedding of a very good friend of mine and I had the chance to stop by some lovely places that popped up in Milan during Expo exhibition. Urban regeneration projects, new museums and venues where having food or drinks, a lot of different initiatives: whether you are pro or against Expo project, we have to be honest in saying that Milan is living a sparkling moment. Since I live abroad and I couldn’t follow those changes in day-to-day life, I was surprised to see how Milan has changed in such a short time and become a very exciting city.

Fondazione Prada – Bar Luce

This art and culture foundation led by Miuccia Prada and Patrizio Bertelli opened its new headquarter in May 2015. It’s an architectural project combining the old existing distillery spaces with some new constructions. This wide area – around 20,000 square meters – hosts both permanent and temporary exhibitions of international artists.

The best restaurants in Milan I have been recently

You probably know I love eating out, especially when the venue is cozy, the food is delicious and I’m with someone who I care about. Since I have been living in the Netherlands for almost 2 years, it’s not that easy to try new restaurants in my beloved Milan, but I always try to catch-up when I go to Italy to visit family and friends! Here are the restaurants in Milan I tried recently and I fell in love with!

One of my favorite places in Milan by far. At Ubarba, you can feel at home, the atmosphere and the vibe are just lovely, the food looks cooked from your imaginary grandmother from Genoa who gives you love through good and simple food: focaccia, trofie with pesto, testaroli, pansoti with walnut sauce, ravioli, cima. It’s amazing to have dinner in summer in the inner courtyard close to the pétanque field. Smart (and efficient) idea the menu for groups. The cost of the dinner is around 25/30€.

3 best cheesecakes in Milan

I’ve recently discovered the cheesecake. In the past I’ve always avoided it: I thought it was a dessert with no soul, so American, so cheesy, so…too much. Maybe it was because I had never understood the role of philadelphia cheese in a pie or maybe I had never tasted a great cheesecake.

Thanks to a trip in the US, to my sister’s passion for this dessert and to an amazing recipe from my mom, I’ve finally understood the tastiness of this cake and I decided to have a tour of best patisseries in Milan to discover the best cheesecakes in the city.

Here are my favorite ones:

Every time I go to California Bakery for a coffee, I think: ‘this time I can resist, I can make it’ and I always end up ordering a piece of cheesecake. I try to find an excuse to justify gluttony (something like: ‘I swear this week I’m going to do a lot of sport!’) and I abandon myself to the total enjoyment of this amazing cheesecake. Whether at a table in lovely Sant’Eustorgio square or by one of the windows in Via Larga or squeezed in Viale Premuda, life is too short to deprive yourself of this delicacy!
